Local Attractions
The Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel is located approximately 8miles outside Birmingham, within the NEC complex. This means the hotel is a great base for those attending an event (link to events page) at the NEC. The hotel is also convenient for motorway links, and there are several enjoyable attractions within driving distance. For example, the Midlands holds a number of historic and cultural towns such as the fortified town of Warwick, home to Warwick Castle. Warwick is located next to Leamington Spa, which is probably most famous as a royal spa town. A short distance further, roughly a 40minute drive from the hotel, lies Stratford upon Avon and a whole host of attractions related to William Shakespeare.
Slightly closer to Birmingham are several family-oriented sites. Animal lovers have the choice of Birmingham Sea Life Centre or Dudley Zoo and Castle, both of which are fun and educational days out. For a little history, the Black Country Living Museum offers an insight into the industrial past of the Birmingham and its surrounds. Alternatively, for a not-so-healthy but utterly enjoyable day out, Cadbury World may be the destination for you.
If your trip to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole takes you into the city centre, you will not be able to miss the broad array of shopping that Birmingham offers. The city’s most famous shopping and entertainment complexes, the Mailbox and the Bullring, are both easily reachable from Birmingham New Street Rail Station and between them contain a superior selection of designer and high street stores, including Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.
